Spirit of Renewal

The statue, entitled Spirit of Renewal, was commissioned by Restore Arts as part of a visionary development partnership with the Housing Authority of Maricopa County and Gorman & Company. In total, 65 entities collaborated on the extensive renovation of Coffelt-Lamoreaux, repairing and upgrading living facilities and bringing new life to the community, built in 1953 as Arizona’s first affordable housing complex.

“Art became part of this project when we started to look at how desolate it was; how it did not have anything that captured your eye,” said Gloria Munoz, executive director of the Housing Authority of Maricopa County. “We started to think, ‘What could we do here to integrate art?’”

If you would like to see this work of art by Lorri Acott of Dream Big Sculpture tthe 22-foot outdoor sculpture is installed in the community park, at Coffelt-Lamoreaux affordable housing development, 1510 S 19th Dr, Phoenix, AZ 85009
