Back to School: Let's Make Music Together!

It’s time to go back to school, and we need your musical instrument donation for the Great Annual Instrument Swap!

All around Phoenix and throughout Arizona, kids are getting ready to go back to school.

Some parents are elated. Their kids, perhaps . . . not quite so elated -- especially kids who dream of playing an instrument, but can’t afford one.

Wouldn’t it be great to put a smile on the face of a deserving-but-disadvantaged young student today?

The Clarinet in the Closet

Every year at about this time, some students decide band is not for them. Their instruments will be stored in closets or sold.

And every year at about this time, a good number of other students will want to join a school music program, but will be denied the opportunity because their parents can’t afford a clarinet, flute, saxophone, or perhaps any instrument at all. Even a basic instrument in an expense beyond the budget of many working families.

It’s our goal at Restore Arts to get these two groups to help each other out. We can make beautiful music together. It can be done, and we are here to help!

A Painless Way to Make Things Better

Donating your kid's no-longer-wanted musical instrument to Restore Arts is an easy way to directly help other kids in need. Why let that flute or tuba sit in a closet, forgotten and collecting dust for the next ten years? It could be helping a disadvantaged student find the benefits of music education right now!

Music programs - especially those featuring band - have proven again and again to greatly benefit kids. Attendance improves, academic achievement improves, and behavior improves -- all thanks to the joy of making music. Music education deepens understanding and improves concentration, patience, and self-confidence. At Restore Arts, we want these benefits for everyone, but especially for kids living in poverty -- those who might otherwise fall into the negativity and desperation that surrounds them.

Please Donate Your Unwanted Instruments Today!

If you have a soon-to-be former clarinetist, or trumpeter, or violinist, or even guitarist, we’d like to hear from you. We accept all instruments regardless of condition. We have several drop-off locations around the Valley, and pickup can be arranged. You’ll get a receipt for your donation, and a gracious thank-you letter with the appraised value of your donated instrument. Restore Arts is a program of the 501(c)3-registered Fusion Foundation. Consult your professional tax preparer if you have questions about the tax benefits of your donation.

Most of all, you’ll get the satisfaction of helping less-fortunate kids by simply passing along an unused instrument.
